Resurrecting anew.
Always starting over,
scraping the coals together.
I remember walking, heavy,
through the night, the guards were sleeping.
The moon bled through the tree
I stepped into trance, what was time?
Who was it, where had this invitation come?
I have been here before, I thought
Wouldn’t I remember?
Tidal water began to recede
And the fowl took to flight,
looking for the unexpected.
The moss drapes thick
as shadows flicker
the breeze smells of sulfur.
Standing alone listening,
soaking like a sponge
absorbing the deluge.
The phoenix has risen,
from forgotten ash,
left among the pines.
Remain not, search no more
I have not lingered, you will not find.
