52 years have gone by, my how the time has just taken its own sweet time getting here!

‘ Are you not coming out tonight?”

Nope I say but I’ll be alright.

Got a few birthday buds right here with me,

I’ll be fine just wait and see.

Got my sour mash and a walk about mug,

evening stars hanging high up above.

Cutest cards and birthday calls,

well wishing friends, God bless them all.

Had my days of bar parties and bands.

Waking up somewhere unknown , unable to stand.

Hang overs hurt like hell these days,

so I’m taking this passing  at my own sweet pace.

If the sour mash gets too much for me,

well right here on this porch  in the morn I’ll be.

Still will have most of my clothes

and no phone calls to make , apologizing to folks.

I’m not sure if we get wiser with age,

guess it come with trying to avert those learning pains.

So tonight I quietly turn 52,

cheers to everyone, this one is to you.

A great poem bud, I was 65 yesterday and I’m fully retired.
You’ve had your fun and whats done is done.
Take care of your old bones and enjoy the future.
