Man is responsible for maintaining peace and order on earth. While Nature wreaks its vengeance from time to time, the majority of the world’s ills should be attributed to man’s blunders.
The world is standing on its head;
Who’s to blame?
Much like a careless team’s undoing
That denigrates its name.
When Arctic snows keep thawing fast
Who’s to blame?
Lame excuses don’t support
Man’s frivolous game!
Cherished peace on earth is lacking;
Who’s the cause? –
Empty purposes that win
Undue applause!
When animosity supplants
Love so sweet,
Nothing seems to stem its tide
Of sad defeat.
When greed and power stand unbent,
For evil fame,
Time being wasted and ill-spent,
Who’s to blame?
When truth and honesty are tossed,
What remains?
Nothing short of misery
From selfish gains.
For all the ills the earth sustains –
Failures and the awful pains
That seem impossible to tame,
Man alone is but to blame!
