What happens when a first love goes wrong?
My tears are frozen in ever moving motion
Each drop a dead head bejeweled with an icy visor
Dull diamonds forged from sorrow imbued carbon
Cheeks weathered scarlet by bouts of time
Blood-soaked Euphrates eroded
Mouth-bed open clean as a dehydrated cat
‘Did you ever love me same as I did love you’
My mind wandered listlessly
As a child in a candy store
No you couldn’t have loved me then
How could you, with your alabaster lips e’er seeking
That baiser de vie from the sleeping dame
Perhaps my fervour for you was as a summer dove
A fledgling the once matured
Discarded its down feathers and took off in blistering flight
