Monochromatic shades, photographic memories, baby boy, "Blue Moon" "Moon Indigo" blue waters, Bluebells, blue bonnets, blue skies, bluejays, I’m blue.
The color blue in monochromatic shades-
Creates photographic memories for me:
Bringing baby boy home the first time-
Dressed in blue hat, shirt, booties and gown.
I remember how they played “Blue Moon”
At the Senior Prom – How we danced closely-
I wore my frothy formal – aquamarine blue-
And later we harmonized to “Mood Indigo”
I remember the many blue ribbons I won-
Plus the bouquets of forget-me-nots you gave-
How we’d swim in the murky blue waters-
With light heartedness at day’s end-
Bluyebells, bluebonnets, bluegrass music
Blue skies, bluejays, and playing the blues-
Blue freshens memories of younger years-
When we’d fish for blue gills and bass-
Listening to my grandpa’s laughter.
It seems so long ago.
This gives birth now to sadness.
And my own blues – - – ’cause
Those were the best years of my life.
