By Bryan Wegman.

Sheets melt to skin
Bones sink into the outline of where my body lays each night
One and everything is numb
Two and my under
Drifting off into space
Empty space
Darkness
A piece of death?
Is this what I shall see for eternity
When my time is past?
When the clock stops
Will my soul escape to this world?
Restless with thoughts wandering in all directions
I take one more
My eyes roll back
My head smacks the wall as I attempt to fall back into my pillow
I scream out in pain
But my cries fade
The world disappears
