There’s a lion’s eye beholds thee,
As you walk among your friends,
For He knows the Saviour moulds thee.
Wilt thou stray, betray, offend?
He of priceless gold was graven, Of a metal strong and pure,
Yet because of his behaving,
Now his utter doom is sure.
So to him it is a wonder.
“Earthen Vessel” is our make.
Yet he can not put asunder
Those Christ will not let him break!
For he cannot stand in glory.
What then is our hidden grace,
Running all throughout our story,
Lets us stand before His Face?
He who once did serve in Heaven,
Of his standing was released,
We such entrance have been given.
He admires and hates our peace!
So he roams the earth we live in,
Watching us wherever we dwell.
He who once did serve in Heaven,
And thought it better to reign in Hell!
Yes, the lion’s on the rampage,
Let us of his presence heed,
Lest he should get the advantage,

Of our lives, the books he reads!
