This could be the week or the year…just read it as when the resources are slender, and energy at low ebb.

Bottomside of the month,
Just before payday.
Kippers for breakfast,
And ice cream.

Hobbling room to room
A week from the quarterly
Doctor visit.

When a shot of
cortison will ease
The arthritic knee.

Good thing, I think,
I am not an atlete
On whom to be called
Steroid foul!

Bottomside of the month
Struggling with brush
Grown past city-acceptable.

Battling through
Two block courses
Done by Halloween.

Working through
A double serving
Of art papers

And an electronic file
Of youthful typing
(Look out for
Those font changes!)

Bottomside of the month
Its only saving grace:

It isn’t forever.
