A poem inspired by a photo and true story found on Flickr.

His first dog killed,

when he couldn’t pay what he was billed.

Left without his only friend,

should his existence come to an end?

Soon he heard another’s cries,

yelps of pain and weeping eyes.

Suffer not said he to she,

for you have a home with a homeless man like me.

He gave all he could give,

a life loved to live.

She will be by his side,

offering warmth for his hide.

They know what true friendship is,

we should all be so lucky as this.

His Entire World...Homeless man and his best friend, Brandy the dog by BL1961.

Nice. This is not an original thought but a good one. We should all be as good as our dog thinks we are. It doesn’t take all that much to befriend an abandoned animal compared to what you’ll receive in return.

Nothing as simple, and special, as friendship!

Isn’t it strange that the homeless who have so little are most often the first ones to offer what they can to those in need be it an animal or a human being.

A poem that brought a tear to my eye. We tried to adopt another dog today. A seven year old mix lab from our vet. His owner had cancer and ask the vet to find him a home. They have had him since March. We took our two dogs for a meeting and they did not get along. It was the other dog that did not like our dogs. He growled and tried to jump them. It was sad, he was such a sweet old boy to us but not to our other dogs. I hope they can find him a home soon.
