Poem on symbiotic relationship between the deadly chemicals we release when we breath and plants recycling those chemicals and turning them into fresh air.

The delicate purple petals open
wide stealing hidden rays to spark
photosynthesis–strange, toxic
     my black exhalations
the fuel—green energy makes blue
     travel through O2 thirsting
lungs
blue becomes much needed red
     coursing through my core only
to be partially used and rejected
     catapulted through the air
“Bless you,” back to green repetition
