Realizing your heart has been broken.

Clouds hide the sun on a gloomy day

Flesh hides my heart, as it beats desolate

Winds whisper as trees ponder

No arms to caress, embrace gently

Raindrops overwhelm as I tolerate… showers

Eyes search to feel affection

Puddles of water, considering

Anxiety of injury, searching but not…creating

I’m soaked, cold and wet

Through the haze of remembering

Contemplating not going back

Smiling, as we say goodbye
