Selflessly giving of yourself for another.

I sat on the sidewalk
Collecting dust
Collecting dirt
Watching others talk
No one stopped
No one looked my way
A few spoke only to mock
I trapped in illness
Could not defend my stillness
My stink
My place
I was forgotten
Thrown out with the trash

Until you

You saw me laying in the abuse
Vomit soaked
Urine coated
You did not pass you refused
You stopped
You looked
You cried as you washed my face
You said you loved me
You shared your peace
You took me home
Cleaned me up
Filled me with hope
No longer forgotten
Sitting with the trash

Because of you
