In today’s busy world, we don’t stop to see what we truly miss. What we truly need could be just down the corner, or in your home, but the laughs and love are the same.

He’s spotted brown, like something that’s fallen into a factory

His beautiful tail the iridescent color of life

Why, the average person would laugh at such a thing

So cute, wagging its tail as it looks into your eyes, and you look back.

It’s mystifying beyond imaginable as you look into the luminously innocent eyes that only wanted one thing

You knew it wasn’t a treat; you’d already put it in his bowl.

You knew it wasn’t a walk; you’d already taken him out twice that day.

Both he and you knew what he truly wanted.

Giving in with a sigh, you lower yourself with a smile and he immediately jumps up, trying to lick your face.

It was nothing but puppy love that he wanted to give you; being such a cute little thing and so dependent

That you gave in to his needs and deepest desire:

To be the four legged animal that was always by your side

To be the canine that was always on the watch yet respectful enough to leave when asked

To be something unique, to be something not even the most precious gem could replace

But most of all

To be man’s best friend.

I am not a pet person at all, but I enjoyed this poem anyways. One day maybe I will have a pet. I have heard dogs are amazing creatures.

I’m very much a pet person. I’ve always had dogs and at present have a cat. Although there’s nothing quite like coming from home to be greeted by your dog, I wish he’d wait until he got out of the door BEFORE he p*ssed on my foot lol.

I liked your article Fresh, simple and easy to understand. A pleasure to read.

    HA! Kinkyvinyl, that’s VERY unfortunate…:D

Thank you for the compliment! I decided to try simple poetry (for once).

Thank you, Payge and Mrs M., for reading this as well. I personally love dogs, but heh- we all have our preferences!

Sweet poem–and I bet for a sweet puppy. I like most critters–especially the ones with four feet and fur.

Very nice, and very touching. Dogs are so devoted to us, and it’s touching to read this. Good job.

What a lovely poem. Your dog sounds so sweet, it’s no wonder you have to give in to him. Good work.

    shaky butt, shaky butt
    rip, chew, tear
    a yippin and a woofin\’
as they slobber in you hair

But when you see the love in their eyes. . .

Thanks; you bring out the connection between dog and beast.
