Keep it simple stupid. I don’t like the couplet, so somebody please tell me how to say the same thing, and not sound like im from the 16th century.

I’m done with sonnets for a while, they are a pain in the ass to write.

Blood sloshed across the hood of an old red sedan

to flow like water, placid drops matched the color

Cold steel tray of still warm teeth, don’t look if you can

Wait to glue them to a sheet of colored paper

 -

Fastened with magnets to the refrigerator

Next to a coupon for macaroni we kept,

Not such a paper cutting reminder of her

Hand hanging off the side of the bed while she slept

 -

One need not be reminded, the mind never leaves

The office, with posters on the ceiling scolding

For not flossing daily, too much sugar eats teeth

If only a needle could dull metal folding

 -

But alas, as still lakes care not for drowned dead

A king can’t trade a life, for the crown on his head
