…walls are built to be knocked down.
I spent my entire life building this wall,
I never thought that one day that it would fall.
Every brick that I laid was perfectly placed,
Each one dealing with a problem I have faced.
As the problems grew, so did the wall,
At first it went wide, and then it got tall.
I built it up to entrap my heart,
It seemed like a good idea at the start.
As the wall grew taller it blocked my view,
The view of the world that I never knew.
I climbed up one day to look over,
When I got to the top, that’s when I saw her.
Such beauty and elegance that I lost my grip,
My body went weak and I started to slip.
I called for help and started my fall,
Why on earth did I build this stupid wall?
I am stuck here and she is out there,
Suddenly everything seemed unfair.
I built this wall to protect by heart,
Now everything but the wall is falling apart.
I tried everything to destroy this wall,
But not even a wrecking ball would make it fall.
I began again to climb up to the top,
Maybe someone on the other side could make it drop.
I peered over and saw “her” once again,
Too look that beautiful must be a sin.
She walked up to the wall and stared at me,
And my heart was the only thing that she could see.
She talked to me without a sound,
And when she touched the brick the wall fell down.
Bad emotions built this wall,
And all it took was love to make it fall.
