A poem about changing for others.

You try to take me,
mold me
but you cant even
hold me.
You want me because I burn in your eyes,
with smiles and sex
and yous see promises that don’t exist
but when you touch me
i burn your hands with passion
so fierce you can’t
comprehend it
so you try to put me on ice
but I resist,
because that’s not where I belong
but you tell me I’m wrong
And when I go
you try to follow
but I go to a place you can’t even recognize,
it’s a place of love and respect,
things you crave to know
but your selfish heart stops you,
and i can’t just let you
because it brings me down
and I’ve sunk as low as I dare,
just hoping that you notice
as you cry with your last breath
you say that you do care.
but I see the truth
spoken clearly in your eyes
you’re dead inside
trying hard to stay alive
while you kill your soul
with these vices you believe,
open your mind,
but these have taken too much from you,
they say live for others
but when i feel the poison
seeping from my pores
I know I can’t anymore,
and the one I saw once
stays hidden
catching only glimpses,
So I leave you where you are
not ready to carry you
because I need to fly
to glide
to see the sky clear
after this storm has passed.
