One tiny little grain in an endless sandbox.

I am but a grain of sand
In an endless sandbox
I topple as the wind blows
And fall where it allows me
Sometimes, as others blow my way
The wind does not favor me
Sometimes the wind is my friend
And puts me in a tiny playful hand
Sometimes I am left to watch
As others are becoming castles
Sometimes my brothers watch me
While I am becoming the soldiers fortress
I have rolled beneath your shoes
Finding no pleasure in the darkness beneath them
I have stood as the tallest mountain
Where the only thing left touch is the sun
Lonely and still for what seems forever
Daydreams of filling teacups and spoons
Happiest as all that finds splendor
As I’m molded and shaped into fantasy
I have been discarded and deceived by armies
Destroyed by tanks and robbers of my plenty
I have protected against evil forces and attackers
Dances have been danced because of my triumph
I see no daylight when covered by others
I have no companions likely here tomorrow
I wander in search of what is everything
And the journey never ends
Seasons will change along with my journey
From one year to the next
I will be your tear when I crumble and fall
I will be your tower, your giggle, and your friend
Refining and smoothing out the rough spots
Because there’s always another battle
When the wind will show it’s favor upon me
I’ll expand and morph as you will wish
Until then I daydream
Of what tomorrow brings
