Lovers’ sonnet.

But for this moment dreams must all stand still
While hearts are racing off to the unknown
And kisses wait to wash away the thrill
As lovers reap this harvest they have sown

Sweet memories of dancing in a field
Where fantasies were put in an array
Without a care about a final yield
An echo from a past which went astray

But for this moment dreams must stand aside
As fear now turns to reason to explain
The ways which only lover can abide
And bring about this curious refrain

But for this moment then our dreams can play
For I must pay love’s credit bill today
