One of my first poems, written as a high school senior.

wherever you are tonight, i want you to know
that i’m here ALONE and i’m listening
to our song and my heartbeat
and i’m crying. but i’m not sad,
’cause, truly, i have no right to be.
you hurt me, but i should be over you.
they say time heals all wounds
and i have to believe that
and keep on living, and find other lovers
because if i don’t my tears will flow FOREVER
whoever you’re with tonight
make sure you tell her
your promises are made of GLASS
tell her to be strong and independent
tell her not to fall for you too hard
’cause you won’t be there to catch her.
i try to forget you in other arms
but tonight i’m ALONE, thinking of you
and i’m crying. but i’m not sad
’cause, truth be told, i can’t afford to be

    Well expressed.

If this was written in high school, it was written by one much older in her mind than in her body. Incredible insight to you at that time, and so well expressed. The emotion is there for all to share….I was crying with you…

I don’t really know what love is like, but from what you wrote, I can tell it hurts. Bring on the pain!!

@heatblast92 – Love is only painful when you give your heart to someone unworthy. When you find someone who loves you back, (respects you, values you, supports you and truly cares about you) love is wonderful!
