I love candlelight

That comes from a slender piece

Of tallow with an embedded

Wick that is burned to emit 

A flickering light

Usually on a candlestick

White, red, blue, green, yellow

Or in a combination 

But regardless of their appearance

These pieces also made from wax

Conjure many enduring memories

Take for example the candles

Used in churches, temples, synagogues

For religious purposes

And their solemnity and mysticism

What about those that are carried

At a memorial service for friends

That have died tragically 

What meanings that make a profound impact

Recall having a candlelight dinner

With a loved one at a fancy restaurant

To celebrate, be on a date, a wedding anniversary

Or some other special occasion.
