A poem about the power of our choice to make each and every day count. Life is counted by what we make of Today.

As the freshness of the morning dew
Greets my sleepy eyes
So will I set my eyes as a flint
Towards the heavens
with an attitude of gratitude.
Giving praise and thanks
for the breath of life in me, and the dawn of a new day.
Graced with the fullness of His divine presence
Blessed with opportunities to pursue my dreams.
Today
I will set my eyes expectantly
For the coming of the noon day sun
With no suspicion of what it may hold for me
Only hope that goes before my fears
Announcing the freedom I have received
To call this day whatsoever I choose.
Today
Would I choose to welcome you with open hands
To behold the beauty of a fresh rose
And inhale its heart warming fragrance
Or step carelessly on its thorns
And wonder why beauty mingles delicately with thorns
Today
Would I marvel at the beauty of gathering white clouds
Running swiftly across the sky
Announcing the soon coming storm
Would I sing the praise of the eagle
Gliding majestically in the sky
And the golden sun, hanging like a ball in the twilight sky
A sheer masterpiece of the greatest artist ever known
Today
should I watch in awesome adoration
The joy on the faces of children as they welcome snowflakes
That caress their innocent faces on cold winter mornings
Should I grumble about why the world is the way it is
Until I crumble under the weight of all its woes
Worry about the limitations that comes with rainy days
Instead of learning to dance in the rain.
To crave for all the things this world has to offer
And make believe I am brave enough to handle its problems
Today
As long as my breath remains
I declare my choice for all to hear
And shout with unspeakable joy
That as long as the vine remains
Sweet wine will I drink to my hearts delight
For a million tomorrows will come
And pass into yet another yesterday
For tomorrow’s promises I am not sure to keep
And yesterday’s glory I must let go
All because this day I choose to call my very own
I call it TODAY.

A very nice and touching poem. We can’t seem to count our blessings for mulling over our wants or desires. It is truely a blessing from God to be able to wake up and see another sunrise, or to here rain hitting our roofs. To be thankful that we have food, clothing, and a roof over our heads especially in these troubled times we live in. Well done friend.

Absolutely gorgeous and powerful, full of truth, hope and love, balanced with a true sense that God’s miracles are all around us; we are just accustomed to some. God’s miracles are growing around us everyday.

    Awesome!
