Getting into a rhythm of venting through poetry again.
I can’t seem to get through the day without seeing you once.
You’re like my nightlight, keeping all the monsters at bay.
You’re like hair dye, keeping grays away.
You’re an umbrella that stops me getting wet,
A beautiful rainbow, not much more can be said.
You’re the calm before the storm;
And a breath of fresh air, or a time of peace.
You’re one of the first birds,
That come singing of Spring,
Or the first flakes of snow
For young kids to sled.
The first cup of coffee on a hard morning,
I’ll say it again, that’s you.
Eggs sunnyside up, mornings never get boring.
You’re that note on the table that says;
“I was thinking of you”,
The dew on the grass,
Sparkling through and through.
That hug that set things right,
I will say it, yes siree.
Why, that hug was was from you to me.
You’re the soft breeze on a scorching day,
A sip of cool water for my lips to say,
“Maybe it would be easier if you knew,
All the good things I thought about you.”
Without you every candle goes out,
Everything is easily broken.
Then, all the music fades to mute,
All to mourn, the lost token.
People can say one is their sun and skies,
Their earth and stars.
I’d just like to burn all those lies.
The sun hurts to look at,
The Sky is blue and sad.
The earth is always changing,
And the Stars can’t always be seen.
None are a fair way to say
Just what you mean to me.
Don’t take it for granted,
Us and our and we,
I’m looking at forever now,
Soon you’ll see.
