This poem was inspired by the life-threatening hurricane Ivan and written by candlelight during the night of 12th September,2004. Its original title is: TIME TO DIE.
Now it´s time to die
what can I say?
I liked
Ernest Miller Hemingway
and even more
James Dean,
Kozinski,
was fascinated by
blind old Borges,
was in love
for many years
with Ingrid Bergman,
and even longer
with Jesus.
What else could I say?
Watched a few movies,
read a few books,
met a few women,
shared stolen glances
and secret looks,
shared their beds
and mine,
shared their kisses,
the food that they cooked,
and there´s an excellent passage
from a particular book,
Room At The Top,
that definitely deserves
a second look.
´Oliver!´
and ´Gloria´
and some photos
that I took…
and a rhyme
or two
I wrote
and the few words I had to say
if tonight was truly
my final night
of my final day.
