A poem of deliverance.
Captain ZERO
Captain ZERO led the band up a long and winding road
It twisted and it turned he was high and they were low
He saw upon the sunset something wonderful and bright
The band played with marvel though they could not see the site
Upon a mountain on a stone Captain ZERO stood with pride
He looked at his troopers and urged them all to try
They pushed and shoved gamely with a twinkle in their eye
Hoping someday soon they too would learn how to fly
As they moved into the valley a star sparkled in the night
The troopers were all joyous carrying their load with great might
Captain ZERO felt uneasy as a destiny he met
Was something that he cherished yet something to regret
He had built a sturdy army all disciples to his creed
But soon enough it struck him this star is not what he needs
As the path ahead became brighter to each man and woman there
The valley was filled with darkness to him with ghosts flying through the air
Captain ZERO left his home to find the promise we all long for deep inside
Instead he found a landscape lonely, desolate to the mind
He journeyed on with force, wandering far and wide, trying to forget that he had sold himself a lie
Soon enough it was morning and the band was set to play
They polished up their bugles sure this was the day
But Captain ZERO was a soul that had been somewhat misplaced
They went into the township and found with great surprise that Captain ZERO had sent them travelling to a place they could not find
Although their journey was tiring, adventurous and great
They always were at the town that took them so long to replace
What he left behind he found again, it never moved, was always there
So goodbye Captain ZERO, it was worth it all the same
For without your turns and roundabouts I’d have someone still to blame.
