Caribbean island leaders have been trying for ages to unite all caribbean nations but this unity have been evasive time and again, year after year.
Caribbean Unity – an illusive dream!
Who says we have
Caribbean unity?
Illusive since, and shall it always be.
Five hundred years and more have so far passed,
And our identity is still unknown!
Historians, politians, citizens, too,
They still don’t know what is caribbean pride;
Are we West Indian or Caribbean?
Known as being Cosmopolitian,
Why do we still say we are West Indian?
Splintered islands that make the Caribbean,
A single action! Ever can it be?
Failure at building a Federation,
Not sports, not even as with Caricom!
Creole Folks, ONLY, that’s who we are!
Neither African, Indian nor other.
A single thread that joins us together;
Our ONLY heritage, yet to accept!
