This child was a news item sometime between Aug. 1988 and March 2002. I didn’t catch the correct spelling of her last name and having issues of my own didn’t write down the date. At least now there is the “Amber Alert” when a child comes up missing, and they’re starting to crack down on these people.

Vain inquisitions in an idealistic world

where people in the public eye

use vulgarity and lie

our children are hunted like animals

stalked and killed

abused physically, emotionally, and spiritually

by those they idolize

What good is giving charity

when their works create more pain

the cries of loving parents

are done in vain

eleven years old

mature beyond her years

mature in she didn’t give in to the

sleazy styles of the day

walking with confidence

only to be whisked away

Where have our values gone?

that such is greatly desired

the present judicial system

should be redesigned or retired.

I think the young girl you’re writing about was Carly. Damn shame. You’re right. The system is flawed and so are some people.

could have been. it was a long time ago. her story bothered me a lot and having my own issues at the time, well this poem is about her and her situation. The powers that be are working on the system.

Heartfelt poem I hope the powers that be are listening.
