An original poem by Aubrey Lambach.

You say you are knitting my heart,

Stitch by stitch

Making something

Out of nothing.

I wonder if it’s possible

To unravel the ball

Of yarn that it used to be

Into something more beautiful.

It was tangled.

It was knotted,

Twisted,

And mangled.

But you defiantly brought

Your needles

Claiming that only you can

Work wonders.

But remember this is my heart.

Not some sweater

Or a scarf.

I am alive, or at least I used to be.

Don’t drop stitch

I will feel it.

Don’t trim the yarn

Just yet.

Keep me connected

To what I used to be,

For in that simple, scrambled skane you scourn,

I am home.
