About candy and regretting the wonderful delight of it when we get cavities.
Never thought I’d end up here,
In the dentist office that is.
(Let me take you back to where it begun)
I was sitting in my room eating candy.
Candy of different colors and sizes,
Munching down on chocolates.
And fruity flavors,
Sometimes tasting sweet and sour.
Other times tasting bitter and tart,
As I unraveled the wrapper I felt the excitement.
The excitement of the flavory goodness heading my way,
I tasted every last bit until it was gone.
Never knew there were so many flavors,
Never knew there were so many forms.
Watermelon, chocolate, cherry, lime, strawberry, raspberry and grape,
Crunchy, melty, chewy, hard, and soft.
I was thinking of my tongue satisfactions,
And not of my teeth’s benefits.
See, I wanted that candy,
I didn’t need that candy.
I was basing my decision on a sweet tooth that was going like the energizer bunny,
But I wasn’t aware of the decay that was happening to my teeth.
Taking away the enamel of my teeth creating holes and cavities,
And here I am sitting in the dentist office.
Taking away money that could have gone towards my allowance,
Or my school supplies budget.
But no, I was thinking about that gummy everlasting,
Not very wise, but I guess I’ll learn my lesson.
(Time to get those cavities filled).
