Just a couple of things to keep in mind when embarking upon any endeavor.

From the mountains of paper,
To the oceans of ink–
It always takes longer
And costs more than you think.
It doesn’t really matter
If its a house, or a lesson plan
Short-cuts will only make you sad
Be you child, woman or man.
Whether it is home-work just half-done
Or a way to get electricity from sun
You are going to be sorry
If you don’t fully turn a hand.
From the mountains of paper,
To the oceans of ink–
It always takes longer
And costs more than you think.
Pushing workers to the bitter edge
May work for an immediate sort of time
But in the long run you’ll regret
As they move to a less arduous sort of clime
You see, it really isn’t right
To push to disguise your lack of foresight
Remember Scotty’s law* and Mrs. Murphy’s too
In planning everything you do:
From the mountains of paper,
To the oceans of ink–
It always takes longer
And costs more than you think.
*Scotty’s Law of Engineering: If you want to look like a genius, always tell the boss it will take three times longer and cost twice as much as it really will. Then, when you complete ahead of time and under budget you look really good.
