I usually don’t write poetry, but this piece just came flowing out of me and I ended up being happy with it. Tips and advice are always welcomed, and thanks for reading!
They say all’s fair in love and war
And you like to live by that rule
You won’t leave me be, don’t let me get too far
And letting me hang on like this is cruel
All I’m asking for is all I deserve
Give me my chance
Because I let you have yours
Give me a break
From all of you
My battered heart can’t take
Another day of seeing you
My mouth can’t force one more smile
Or my lips one more “no”
When you ask me to stay a while
Because you only want me once she goes
I can’t kept believing you
When you tell me you don’t love her
While each day, I watch you
Be happy with her.
