This is a poetic summary of Chapter Seven of Harriet Beecher Stowe’s novel “Uncle Tom”s Cabin’

Mr Symmes

Seems

Like a “Heathenish Kentuckian”.

But he’s just a reluctant Christian,

Only a good samaritan.

He bestows mercy, justice, love

On Eliza, the mother-slave.

On Eliza, the mother, brave.
