A sonnet about unrequited love.
While tongues may lie, and eyes do cry,
The heart can scarcely weep,
Imprisoned in the cage of man,
Beneath emotions deep.
By breath and by blood, we rest assured,
Of presence corporeal,
But what, I pray, is to affirm,
My love of such great zeal?
For she that wanders to and fro,
Within my heart and mind,
Oh! what great unconquered love,
Of transcendental kind.
Though unvanquished, my love does remain
Unrequited and fully in vain.
