For all the overly dramatic, overly emotional tweens and teens in my life. This one’s for you!

Cheer up, emo kid, all hope is not lost

Because into puberty you have been tossed

The world will not end if you can’t have your way

Or you don’t win your “crush” at the end of the day

And believe me; your parents know more than you think

Were they infants, then grown -ups all in one blink?

They’ve been where you’re going; they’ve got good advice

They didn’t get where they are just by rolling the dice

And molehills aren’t mountains. Quit making them so.

You’re much better off than you ever will know

Don’t create problems where they don’t exist

Get a job, pay some bills. EARN the RIGHT to be pissed.

For now enjoy childhood and hold it most dear

Cheer up, emo kid…. It’s all downhill from here!

I love this. It brings back so many memories of my own and of my children growing up. I used to think everything pissed them. I am glad they have grown out of it. A great piece.

very good to recommend that teens cheer up–those are tough years–they just don\’t know what wonderful things lie ahead–you have to be optimistic–boy am I boring–you said it better
