I wrote this poem in 2001 for my middle school poetry unit. This is about the Trail of tears the Cherokee, some of my ancestors, traveled due to the white man.

I am a Cherokee princess and I am special,

For I see the gift of the future.

I see white man,

They are destroying our tribes,

Taking what they do not need!

I see our tribes going down a Trail of Tears,

Our loved ones are dieing from illnesses brought here by white man!

Why do you hate us so white man?!

What did we ever do to you?!

We have nothing but your cruelty against you white man.

PLEASE,

I BEG you to take care of the land, animals, & air!

We are crying,

For our people,

They are dieing.
