Be it a cardboard box or a sheet for a tent, a child can have that magic place, mine was my bed.
There in the corner……
had a piece of plywood and four two by fours,
folded up Army blankets from a Goodwill store,
a sheet tied down, that was my bed.
On rainy nights all it took
was a flash light and some comic books,
I’d be ready for my magic ride.
Across the sands where dreams come from,
I’d visit princesses and their kingdom,
rescue them and live the life of ease.
Always stopped in the Land of Far,
where travelers got free gum balls,
why , my mouth is watering still.
Yes, there in the corner of my mind..
on a piece of plywood, I had the best of times.
