There has always been the phenomenon where some children bring other children into this world. Many have no place to turn and eventually report their plight to their parents. It is important such parents act responsibly, seek counseling and if they do not see a way to raise these children, give them up for adoption rather than aborting them.

No one can deny

Some children grow up

Rather fast

And there are consequences

To show for it

- – -

Many of these

Have adult bodies

But immature minds

- – -

They may grow up

In homes that are

Puritanical

With no discussion

Of the life cycle

Of the birds and bees

- – -

Many children

Experiment

They will do anything

To please others

And soon find themselves

In hot water

- – -

Many parents on hearing

Their children’s dilemma

Hit the panic button

Yelling and screaming

And may even order

Them to get out of their home

- – -

Some concerned

About the embarrassment

They would face

By family and friends

Think about ways

To conceal the inevitable

- – -

Others go so far

To encourage

Their daughters

To have an abortion

- – -

Life is not cheap

And such abortions

Ought to be discouraged

- – -

If it’s clear

That the best solution

May be, if such persons

Do not want their children

To seek counseling

And put them up for adoption

- – -

Parents of such children

Should swallow their pride

Forgive and realize

That we all make mistakes

Some of them major

It amazes me that teenage pregnancy is still a big issue, with all of the knowledge and birth control methods available. There are way more available than when I was a teen, and people talk more freely than then as well.

The foundation of making a family is sacred. It should be respected and followed by all means, so as not to add for the burden of mankind.

Parents need to monitor their children at all ages…they depend upon us!

There a lot of truth in your words. Very well-said. Many of these young mothers haven’t had a good role model while growing up. Usually these mothers are single mothers working two jobs struggling to pay the bills. I watch a TV program on teen moms where this is usually the case. Where role does dad play in all of this? You hear a lot of parents saying they can’t control their kids these days. Yes, they can, perhaps they just don’t know how to. Having a baby is a big responsibility and these mothers are not mature enough. The parents are usually the ones that end up raising their children unless she decides to give it up for adoption. It takes a lot of courage for a parent to admit that they’re wrong and make mistakes.

We need to support our children even through their mistakes. That is so much more important than worrying about what the neighbours will say.

A new baby is a blessing. We should give our children our full support as parents even if they made mistakes.

In today’s day and age, we condemn the whole thing telling the world it is cheap etc. but in the past it was part of the norm to have children as children and it still takes place in the Arab, African and Indian communities.
But with under developed bones, immature minds etc. it is sad that these kids have their childhood robbed from them in a way that is irreplaceable. Some of these mothers are not fit to be mothers and actually sell their daughters to have things like this done to them.
I am a single mum and work two jobs alongside writing and music, if my child requires my attention I would do what it takes to provide him with the best amenities to develop.
Honestly, such parents should have their children taken away from their family and given a better life rather than made to grow up before time.
I am taking care of one such child and she is only eleven and a woman but yet a child as part of our charity programme in India.

  • Lady Aiyanna (Anisha Achankunju) on Dec 23, 2011

In addition to the above, I was a married mum at 27 and I do my best to provide my child with state of the art education to blossom. It is more the values of parenting that matters and of course the observation of good mannerisms and behaviour of the parents that make all the difference in the way children are raised.

Don’t watch television haven’t done so for nearly a year but out here in NZ, I have seen the free lifestyle where the average per woman is about 20 males and yes, one of the children at my antenatal class was only 13 and today has a five year old like me and her mother was happy and smiling about the fact that her daughter didnot know who the father was and didn’t quite care. But the mum ended up being a grandmum before the age of 40.

That is also why we have a population explosion because men don’t look at the age of the woman who may be a child and go Just Do It and the child may be pushed into it by the mothers or fathers or have been told that easy money comes by sleeping with a man and then end up getting killed with AIDS and what not apart from the baby.

The only people who can stop this is you and me by encouraging the world around us to STOP parading children around (there is one who parades her three year old as a hooker from Pretty Woman and in the costume too at various pagents and taught the daughter the word too much to the negative uproar of the press) and making them women at the age of three or four and continuing the trend from then on.

It is a shame that children are having children. I know a few people who had children at a young age. Thanks for letting us know about this.
