As, Christians, we have been given the Word of God to help us fight our battles. Will we use it?
Christian, Gird Your Armour On
“Wherefore, take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith you shall be able to quench alll the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:” Ephesians 6:13-17
Christian, pray, are you in motion?
God has given shoes for your feet.
Will you, faithful, give devotion,
To the service that you meet?
For we preach the blessed Gospel
Of the everlasting God.
Will you rise to this grand calling
With your feet so ably shod?
Wear his helmet of salvation.
Thoughtful soldiers we must be.
Not to go out to the battle,
Unprepared, and thoughtlessly!
Wear his shield upon your nature.
Cautious, and enduring, too,
Things that help you grow in stature,
As the Lord would have you do.
Through it all, though, shun inaction.
For He’s given you a sword.
Will you be to his Satisfaction,
And well-pleasing to thy Lord?
Soldier, the Christ of the Cross is calling.
Longs to with salvation bless.
We must go and bear his standard,
In our Saviour’s armour dressed!
