Such a great time of year.

The smell of apple pie now wafts through my house

As pine needles in the rug, prick the children’s feet

This time of year, the joyful time, is carried in the air

As smiles fall upon the faces of everyone you meet

The briskness of the chill that makes us wear a scarf

Is a sign of the time; the season that is welcomed so

As children’s faces change from frowns they often have

To smiling faces, happy faces, set there all aglow

For they know Santa comes this eve with their toys

Anticipation building, they cannot wait to sleep

To wake upon the morrow, to view a room so filled

With toys and gifts of love, for them alone to keep
