The impact of Christmas on a man who no longer has his family.
Christmas comes to the city and I feel so all alone,
cause my mind is on younger days when I was at home.
I’m sitting on a park bench, the snow is twinkling through the lights,
Last minute Christmas shoppers fill the stores, it’s Christmas eve tonight!
Christmas eve has found me lonely and aching with desire,
to somehow turn back the time when we sat in front of our Christmas fire.
We sat arm and arm and watched the Christmas tree,
The children slept in their beds, we were happy, you and me.
Now, the time has come to go to my lonely room,
Buy a bottle and celebrate and drink away this gloom.
On this night of all nights’ I’m beggin’ for Gods’ Grace,
Give something to celebrate and lift me from this place.
Christmas in this city is so lonely, I know I’ll cry,
I lift my face up to God and ask, why oh why.
Tomorrow I’ll be all alone and my thoughts will be on you,
Christmas will be just another day that somehow I gotta get through.
Christmas comes to the city and I feel so all alone,
Cause my mind is on younger days when I was at home.
I’m sitting on a park bench, the snow is twinkling through the lights,
Last minute Christmas shoppers’ fill the stores it’s Christmas eve tonight.
