A short poem I just wrote before I go to sleep this Christmas night.
St. Nick’s night is close at hand
Readying a sleigh oh-so-grand
So much more than a fairy tale
Embodiment of all that’s fair and well
A giver indeed
Without the greed
Of common man young and old
The children draw near
Excited to hear
When stories of him are told
But greater still
Far greater, if you will
Woven warm and tightly knit
A treasure untold
For you to behold
The bliss of family, that is it
‘Tis now Christmas evening
And what joy family can bring
Toys and gifts are good and nice
And everyone loves the snow and ice
But what ignites all this cheer?
The caring warmth of loved ones near
A wonderful way
To have a birthday
And celebrate our gift from above
Eternal life
No pain, no strife
A reminder of Jesus Christ’s love
