A poem to bring to life the senses surrounding Christmas -smells, touch, sound, sights, tastes.

Christmas senses

Rich, sweet aroma from perfumed candles

Pine scented logs, too hot to handle

Cinnamon sticks on the Christmas tree

Freshly brewed coffee and pot pourri

Artificial snow made from soft cotton balls

Velvety rabbit, smooth porcelain dolls

Black coal, so dusty, it gets up your nose

Logs rough and course, soft, new Christmas clothes

Wee Santa is singing from his rocking chair

The piano is played when there’s time to spare

Squeezing squishy bubble wrap, making it pop

Crackling fire, coal with logs on the top

Christmas lights flickering, throw light in the air

Soft glow around me, warmth everywhere

Red, green and amber, plush cushions and rugs

Best linen and china and porcelain mugs

Mmm..taste that mulled wine, straight from the pot

Toasted marshmallows, lovely and hot

Warm home baked bread, slices of roast

Dripping butter from the charcoaled toast
