For all of us who have lost someone this year.

The decorations are on the tree.
All the stockings are hung with care.
They’re all asleep except for me.
I’m just wishing you were here.
All the presents are tied with bows.
Place around the Christmas tree.
Yet the only gift that I want,
Is to have you here with me.
So I stare at the photographs.
and I have to wonder Why?
Why were you taken from my world?
Leaving me alone to cry.
I hear the sounds of them waking up.
Their little hearts so filled with glee.
It is Christmas morning, I’ve been up all night.
Still wishing you were here with me.
This is our first Christmas, without you.
And I will see you in Heaven once again.
Maybe God can spare an Angel for a moment
To hold you just once more to ease this pain.
