A poetic representation of a regretful smoker.

I started smoking when I was in school
Because smoking was in and so darn cool
Back then a pack cost a buck and a half
I always shared them with the smokers in my class

I tried to quit time and time again
Now they have a grip on me that will never end
I used the patch, gum and doctors medicine
But nothing has helped with this ridiculous addiction
I now realize that it was just an adolescent mind trick
And If I could do it over again my butt I would kick

So, please take this as a good example of what not to do
Don’t be fooled by yourself and your friend’s in school
Choose to be smoke free and save yourself the strife
It will be easier to live and will perhaps save your life

I really liked this. My Mom smoked for years. She was up to 2 1/2 packs a day when she quit. She threw them down and chewed on pencils & gum forever. But, she kicked it. It’s an awful thing. Thanks for this.

    Rebecca,

Thank you for commenting and most of all the advice. Your mom had a very strong desire to quit and she did, that is commendable. I will keep her technique in mind as I continue to kick this myself. Your welcome:)

    Very nice poem Bill.
    I really enjoyed it.

A lot of my fiends smoke becourse it’s cool,
As you mentioned before, it started at school.

At parties we smoke and we feel we’re the best,
I think all this might just be a test.

Course what is so cool about breathing out smoke?
One day you might’ve gone too far so you choke.

It starts with cigarettes and booze, we all know
And suddenly it’s drugs and that’s just too freakin’low.

So thanks for the warning, I’ll stop right away
Course I don’t walnt to be addicted, okay?

This is exactly how it was for me, when I began smoking.
