…
This city, once unbreakable
now lingers, hanging in the balance
stripped down by mind controlling flames
turned away in the evening rains
memories layer the walls
but they rarely speak anymore
derisive bodies still crowd the floor
never destined for the morgue
time stands still here
the broken sky, my scars
the breath on the wind braces no calls
just shattered pleas of victims
spreading their lives like disease
tattered offerings of childhood dreams
haunted and drowned right on through
most never even lay on these callous roads
this is the ghostly ruins of a place i once called home
but don’t let the remains fool you
trick you into their manipulative arms
and their twisted lies that drip down from dead branches
cutting through your surface of flesh
in flashback knives of recollection
the stalkers, the offenders
they still cling here in shadows
the ones that dart across the floor
the ones that greet the corners of your eye
skim across your brain and wave goodbye
in life they may have formed something reasonably human
here the horid truth casting shapes
the squelching desires, the fangs, the claws
feeding your fear like every single night of your life
forever stuck reliving what happened here
treading their filth across the entrance
of the only house in the area still left standing
the grand white house that once caged me in
drove my every smile retreating deep within
this is where they greet, old friends of evil
still fresh enemies of mine
my veins travelling, consuming like vines
there was never hope of escape
this death fire is all in my mind
and the crawling demons
still follow me, my shadows for all my life
