For those who love the theatre as much as I do.

Clear Your Mind

I walk in the theatre,

My heart’s racing fast,

I stroll down the isle,

And remember my past.

So long ago

When I used to enjoy

See a show every week

In the heart of Illinois

The curtain would open,

The audience would roar

Its moments like these

I will always adore

The crowd grows silent,

As the room fades to dark,

One spotlight appears

With the night’s first remark

There’s a lady on stage

She’s setting the scene

Prince charming arrives

As if it’s a dream

Her heart begins to race

Her smile is bright

The audience feels

The magic tonight

And so it begins

This heartfelt tale

The actors take the stage

And with that they sail

As you sit in the crowd

Your heart feels a tug

The performance pulls you in,

As if it’s your drug

The show goes on

But you seem to forget

Get swept up in the moment

But it’s not done yet

The actors prevail

Hold you in their palm

Controlling your heart

And making you calm

The last curtain falls

You stand up and cheer

As you exit the theatre

Your mind is now clear

Nice tribute to theatre. I question your switch from first person “I” to 2nd person “you”.
