An Ode to the Typewriter, patented June 23, 1868.

Click, Clack, Zing!

Tap, Tap, Ring!

What seems so antiquated now

Was high technology know-how

When short hand was the tops

And pencils had their spot

The history of great writing

Would be nowhere without typing

I miss the black and white

I miss the sounds and sight

I miss the slightly askew page

That ended up causing rage

When not rolled in perfectly

Would fold and angle barely

But enough to mess the text

And leave the user vexed

There’s something about the method

The precision and the wretched

Do-overs, mistakes, white out marks

That made it memory trademarks

My computer may be nicer

But I’ll always love my typewriter
