If you listen very carefully, you can hear that a guitar is playing the same thing as the piano in Clocks does. Coldplay uses a (abandoned) part of Hotel California.

If this isn’t the proof that Clocks is a sort of rip off from Hotel California.

I don’t blame them. I mean, there’re millions of songs. Thousands of them are famous. There’s always a part that looks like a part in an another song. They make great music and I don’t hate them.
