My favorite poem from a book called “Silly Stories.”
Enjoy.

There’s this one fat book filled with poems and short stories called ‘Silly Stories.’ I’ve had this book since the age of nine and have read the stories from it over and over again. There are quite a few poems in the book as well, all of which are extremely funny and maybe a bit absurd. Nevertheless, I’m going to be sharing a poem called Clumsy Fred, which is the first story in the book, as well as my favorite. Here it is-

Clumsy Fred

Bumping into castles,

Turning homes to rubble,

Clumsy one-eyed monster Fred

is a load of trouble.

Oops! There goes a lamppost!

Help! A flying shed!

When careless Fred comes into town

It fills them all with dread.

But why is Fred so clumsy?

Has he gone quite mad?

Or has the friendly monster

Just suddenly turned bad?

We must stop that creature!

But how to save the day?

A monster expert took control:

“We’ll do it all my way!”

The expert went to see him.

“I do need help,” he cried.

“Why am I so clumsy?

It makes me sad,” he sighed.

The expert did a lot of tests,

And then he gave a cry-

“I know what’s wrong with you,” he said.

“The problem is your eye!”

So Fred put on a monocle,

And suddenly could see.

He wasn’t clumsy anymore,

He was happy as could be.
