Poem.
It is a bitterness
An almost dry bitterness
For the pleasure
Served pure
A strength of flavor
The olfactory reinforcement
An undeniable intensity
Complete sensory experience
O form translated
From liquid viscosity to solid
Far from its natural origins
Questioning its very discovery
Within all trees there is knowledge
For good
For evil
To be devised
The natural compound,
According to
combination
Becomes . . .
A suspension
The mystery
Happened upon
Dark powders fortuitously meeting
Crystals, liquids, lipid . . . Heat
Beaten vigorously, it shall never dissolve
Steaming to the lips
A thick coating of the mouth
Insists
Heaven to many
No bitterness removed
Transcending its origins
Observing the pod
For Good
For Evil
Who conceived
such luxury?
