Trouble with the government. Can’t work, but can’t get what you are due. In the meantime how do you survive?
How to survive
in today’s world?
Not a simple task
for this country girl.
Cannot get the means
to take care of mine.
Can’t even get anything
in the unemployment line.
Searching and searching
and still cannot find
anything that will give me
peace of mind.
I am out of answers,
but life keeps moving forth.
I sometimes wonder,
should I move up North?
I have never felt so destitute.
What does the government expect,
for me to become a prostitute?
I would rather starve,
is all I can say.
My situation gets more hopeless
day by day.
I cannot do what I did prior.
My problems prevent me
from being able to hold out.
I feel like I am no longer that stout.
Being considered disabled
hurts your pride,
but I deserve what is mine.
I have put in the years,
and paid my dues.
Now is the time
for them to come through.
It is mine to get
and I will not let
the government forget,
that I am here to collect on a debt.
